It's been awhile!

There has been so much going on, I can't believe that three months have nearly passed since the last entry.  I'm sure my "fans" are just distraught that I haven't been on here, ha ha.
I'm going to try to go back to October and start from there.

This is now OLD NEWS but we have moved into our new-beautiful house!!! That weekend was definitely one to go down in the books!  We had all these plans to get things moved in with minimal hassle and as less drama as we could but someone had different plans.
The Wednesday before we were to close on our house Ms. Darcy had an Ophthalmologist appointment in which they dilated her little eyes, well that stress then flared up her seizures again.
It wasn't just one or two seizures, nope our not-so-textbook baby had 19 seizures in three days!  So with the stress of moving we also had some added stress of trying to get these seizures under control.  Luckily again we had the best help/advice from our NP Amanda and by Sunday our little girl was back to her normal self (what a long weekend).

After move-in weekend was behind us we were moving on to Darcy's 1st birthday!  I'm pretty sure I was shooting for the moon when I decided to have her birthday party here at our house... oh yeah the one we had only owned for a WEEK!  But that definitely gave us motivation not to be sitting around, so we got everything unpacked and somewhat organized by the time the party was here.  We did have some amazing help from all our parents on move-in weekend so that was a huge bonus.
Luckily, Darcy's first birthday was a success and we enjoyed having everyone under our roof and sharing in on such an amazing day.

Then the following week I took a short Girl's trip to Vegas.  I can't say much, because you know "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas," but we went out solely to see Ms. Britney Spears and of course she delivered.

Now on to November.  It was actually a quiet month, thank the Lord!  Thanksgiving was in Litchfield, which is always fun to see family and friends!  We enjoy going back and basically picking up right were we left off.  Ruby started swimming lessons, she had been doing dance and was doing well when she got into class but getting her to class was a struggle (which I'm not really sure why because she LOVES to dance around the house... if I had to guess it was taking directions on how and when to dance, she likes to dance to her own beat.). BUT... she loves swimming and has done so well with it.  Which, to me knowing how to swim far exceed knowing how to "technically" dance.  She just finished up this session and we have her signed up again in January.  Darcy, well she is literally into everything.  She is a carefree, put anything and everything in your mouth kind of girl, which is completely opposite of when Ruby was baby.  Ruby is Miss Conservative, never really doing anything that a normal baby would do, so having a polar opposite is definitely keeping Eric and I on our toes... oh and Ruby because she is our little watcher!

DECEMBER!!!  How can it be almost Christmas??  Seriously it is this week!!??  My December has flown by, being busy at work and then a non-stop house, definitely called for a few more beers and a little more Baileys!!
Then there is shopping for the main even, I thought I had a good start shopping and getting ready for this in November, but now that it is almost here I'm catching myself wondering what did I even buy?  Does this happen to everyone?  I seriously should have made a list of what I bought and then maybe I wouldn't be buying everything I see now!  And WHY are husbands so hard to buy for?  Oh maybe because my husband will go all year and not buy himself anything, and then when Black Friday and Cyber Monday roll around the guy gets a new wardrobe!!! WTH!?  I've done a lot of crafty things this weekend for gifts, which I love to do just never have time.

I don't see January slowing down much, we kick off the new year with Ruby's birthday, which of course I have yet to get anything started so this week after I feel like I cannot do anything else for Christmas I will be working on a birthday celebration.  And a CELEBRATION it must be, this girl has some HIGH expectations!!!  WOW.

Cheers Everyone to a Happy Holiday season and a Gloriously Blessed 2016...maybe my New Year Resolution will be to blog more (easier than getting into shape :-))

OCTOBER!!!!

I should probably start off by apologizing for not being a consistent blogger!  Once we get the girls down and the dust settles, I am pretty lazy.
I will try my hardest to pick it up and post more... though October may not be the easiest month for me to make this promise! (Hence the reason for the title of this particular blog.)
October!!!!  We have so much going on in October that I literally just sigh when I say the name of the month, October (sigh).

So, fingers crossed they keep on pace and our beautiful new home will be finished the 15th or 16th.  I would get a pinky toe to make sure this happens!
We (I say we but it is mainly Eric) frequently visit the house, just to see all the stuff that is taking shape.  Literally everyday there is something new!  I get the pictures and it just makes me so happy to see all our ideas come to life (and actually look good)!
With the completion date coming, that obviously means move-in day will be following, which means packing up and shipping out of our oh-so fabulous apartment!  I can definitely say I will NOT be missing one minute in this apartment.  It has definitely made me more grateful for our house and I'm actually super excited to start packing and moving!!!

We also have a month packed of Doctors' appointments for Ms. Darcy.  Ms. D will see all of her favorites this month: Ped Neurologist, "shunt" Neurologist, Ophthalmologist, and Pediatrician.
We have decided to have her physical therapy sessions at school for the month of October, being that they are weekly now, it will just be so helpful for us and our work schedule to have them go to school and work with her.  Then once November comes and we are (I'm hoping) a little calmer then we can start at the house again.  We are so impressed with how much progress Darcy has been showing, I cannot wait for her doctors to see her and then also to see what else we can be doing to keep helping her soar! Plus, her first birthday is in ONE month, wow, I cannot believe this.  It seriously feels like yesterday that I anxiously awaited for her to pop out and bless our little family!
* I promise that I will follow-up on this paragraph at the end of October! "Pinky square" - Ruby's words

Speaking of Ruby, I cannot live that little firecracker out of our crazy month!  Ruby has started dance class on Thursday evenings.  We started it last month, and at first she was shy and just observed... that is what she told me the first night she came out of the class.  There must have been a little light that went off for the second class and she said she danced at dance class!  "Moves like Jagger"
Eric wanted to put her in soccer this fall and just missed the opening date but a day... I'm secretly happy he did.  We can all get back to a comfortable routine after October and I will feel more relieved to able to take on more activities!

I think I've hit on everything.  Say a quick prayer that our crazy October goes smoothly and my next blog is raving about all the great things that happened (and happened with minimal chaos)!

It's so close I can touch it!!!

Our Future Home

As most of you know we are temporarily in an apartment, and LOVE IT... hahaha NOT!!!
But I'm stressing temporarily because I am literally counting down the days until we can settle into our new home.
This is such an exciting time for us, and it is so much fun to do with a 4 year old... I'm being serious.
Ruby is so animated every time we go and check out the progress of the new house.
When they started moving dirt she was completely freaking out, and then the next big excitement was when they poured the outline of the foundation.  Watching this thru her reactions is priceless.
We are trying to document (take pictures) every time we go so we can remind her in the end what kind of process it was to make our new home.
Here are some of the pictures we have taken:

It's getting REAL!!!!   Yay!!!

Little D's Journey: Pt. Five

I feel like so much has been going on lately that I've not thought once about blogging... I'm going to take it as a good thing because it has nothing to do with any bad that has kept me from it!

Darcy has been doing her vision and physical therapy and every time they come they both are extremely excited on how much she has changed and how much she is evolving/growing!  This is music to our ears, we love to see and hear how well she is doing.

We are completely blessed to have this little baby in our family.  She is such a happy, good baby.  When I say she is only upset when she is hungry and tired it's the truth, because the other 90% of the time she is happy!

At SEVEN months here are some fun things about Lil D:

Her new tricks:  rolling over, loves being on her tummy (her arm strength is increasing daily), found her feet, grabs for toys, and is looking for you when you are talking to her. She spent a few days with her Nana and now she likes to shake her head. (ha)
She is still behind for her age, but it makes it that much more special when it happens. :-)

Darcy loves to eat, we have definitely expanded her food and have started giving her more throughout the day.
Food: squash, sweet potatoes, pears, peaches, bananas, avocados, apples, and cereal.

She has been seizure free since April 19th!!! Hopefully that day will never show its face again.

Once the weather starts to warm up will we utilize our pool and both girls will become little fish!!

I almost forgot to report on Darcy's eye appointment!  Her first vista to the Optometrist was when she was three going on four months and then she just went back for a follow up at almost 7 months and her eye Doctor was over the moon on the difference she has made!  She said that she was 100% better than the last time she was in, she wasn't tracking anything and really had a hard time focusing on anything.  This time Darcy was tracking the light and toys and would focus on her while she was talking, it really was a great follow-up appointment.  She also said that they were going to finally get a Pediatric Ophthalmologist and that she wanted to talk to him about Darcy and see if there was anything else he thought he could do to help her, and if so then she would refer her and she could have another set of eyes (no pun intended) looking at her!  This is such great news for her.  The Dr also gave us more things to do with her to help strengthen her sight and continue to make progress.
Blessed I tell you!!!

Little D's Journey: Pt. Four

It has been a little time since I have last updated you on our little D Bug.  I feel like we have been non-stop since the move... nothing has slowed down or felt like normal until this past weekend.
The prior weekend, April 17-19, was a complete whirlwind that it's really hard to even begin to find the starting place!
Guess I will start with that week.  Darcy had an appointment with her Neurologist to follow-up with her seizure medicine, and he seemed to think everything was going well and even wanted us to up her medicine a little b/c of her little growth spurt, plus he gave us a prescription for an "emergency" medication just in case she were to have a prolonged seizure or multiple seizures in a given period that we felt she would need medication control.  His words to us were, "I'm sure you will never need it, but b/c she is old enough I will go ahead and write a prescription for it." *Famous last words*
Then on Friday, April 17th (our 5 year Anniversary), Darcy had an appointment with her shunt Neuro Team and they were just raving how well she was doing compare to last time and they were just blown away with her progress!  We left feeling so excited and finally seeing the light... only to have the wind taken out of our sales hours later!
We (Eric and I) were getting ready for our lunch date when I received a phone call from the Daycare that Darcy was having a seizure like no seizure that had seen before and that it was lasting or lasted more than 5 minutes.  I told them to watch her and let me know if anything changes, and that I would call her Dr and then call them back.  I was now in the car with Eric and received another call from Daycare that she was having another seizure and it was already over 5 minutes, they said they felt like we should come get her and before they even said that we both said we would rather go there then to lunch!  So on our way to get her I called all her Dr.s and our favorite NP Amanda was the only one that called me back quickly.  She suggested we take her to the ER so they could look her over and if she were to have another one then they would be able to help her.
So we went straight to the ER, where she snapped back to her beautiful smiling self and made everyone else in the ER look like they were literally on deaths door.  We had not gotten the "emergency" med filled yet, as we had not thought we would need it as soon as we did.  So they looked her over monitored her and then released us a couple hours later.
Darcy at the ER 4-17-2015

She seemed to be doing better thru Friday night and Saturday, and of course we talked ourselves out of getting her "emergency" medication.  Trust me I've learned my lesson, I will not ever think everything is good and not have a back up!
Saturday night went to bed fine, and then at 1:30 Darcy woke up for her normal feeding, while I was feeding her she began to have a seizure.  I was trying to get her to come too when I realized she was snapping out of it, I called for Eric and by the time he came in I'm going to say she had already been having a seizure for 10 minutes and still wasn't showing signs of stopping!  Eric was going to go get her "emergency" med when I told him if he didn't take her to the ER that I was going too.  I just felt that the best for her would be going there to get the proper medication and fast.  Eric rushed her to the ER and as he was getting her out of the car he could tell she was having another seizure, so he grabbed her and ran inside and they immediately took her back and put an IV into her little arm and administered medication.  He said that after a minute or so she had come out of it and was just sleepy.  Unfortunately, it was a Saturday night/Sunday morning so all the crazies were in and out of the ER, so once they got Darcy under control they had to attend to them.  Eric said at one point he had an EMT in the room with him, they were running short staffed.  They did a CT on her to make sure nothing had changed since her MRI a few weeks prior and luckily nothing showed up.  They were in contact with her Neurologist the entire time, and he asked for her to be admitted for monitoring while they increased her medication.  Apparently the only thing they could find is that the level of medication in her blood wasn't high enough to stop seizures.  They upped her meds and we all hung out in the hospital Sunday afternoon.  Luckily she was doing well that they discharged her around 5:00 and we all got home in time for supper and bed!  **We ALL were extremely tired!**

I'm pleased to say (and hope I'm not jinxing her) but she has been seizure free for over a week now!

I can also write positive stuff...I promise!  Darcy has started her Vision Therapy and her Physical Therapy.  This excites us!!!  We have noticed her growth the past few weeks without the therapy that we cannot wait to see how much she grows and blossoms with her therapy.  I will keep you all posted on how she is coming along, so far we are very pleased with both therapist and feel like this is going to be so GOOD for our little D - bug!!
Thanks for the continue prayers, we feel them and they are much needed and appreciated!!
Love to all!

Home Sweet Home

This weekend was such a blur!  Moving out of a home that I have been in for 9 years and Eric 15 years, you can imagine the accumulation of crap we had.  Luckily we have amazing parents and friends that have helped us transition from our first family home to our short-term apartment, which felt easy and really organized. (thanks to everyone's help)
We have been so busy leading up to this day; getting the house on the market, getting it under contract, repairing what the new buyer wanted, and then moving out that it really hadn't set in that we were leaving our first home as a family!  It really set in today when I was heading home from work, my stomach got that sad feeling when I made the opposite turn to come to the apartment instead of our "home."  (tear)
We have done a decent job of making the apartment homey for the girls and all the amenities have really gotten Ruby excited to live here, but really I am counting down the days until we are in our new home and then the warm-cozy feeling of home will return.
Here are a few pictures from our wild weekend...now I just cannot wait for the signing of the sale so I can stop stressing (though I've been told there is nothing to stress about but it isn't final until everything is signed, therefore there is still room to stress!)

My babies hanging out in Darcy's old room; and then taking their final nap in Mommy and Daddy's room. :(
The help!!

Going Going SOLD!!!

Our house has SOLD!!!  Well, kind of. :)
We have a contract on our house, which is set to close April 22nd.  I'm pretty confident, now, that it will sell since the lady buying our house just closed on her house last week.
We are starting the process of fixing the things that she has asked us too in order to have a successful closing, which seemed way worse to us before Handyman Johnny put it in to perspective.
The next step/move will be into an apartment.  Which sounds really stressful to me, but I'll be chanting for the next 6 months..." it will all pay off in the end."
We have signed a contract to start construction on our new house.  Now that excites me so much.  Just to know that we are blessed enough to be able to build our dream house and know that it will be ours and only ours.  And we will be able to put some personal touches to it, so fun!

If any one is looking to get a good work out, we will need movers in a couple weeks.  And we will pay with Pizza and beer, shoot we may even splurge and get craft beer!!! ;-)

Little D's Journey: Pt. Three

No better time to blog than in the a hospital waiting room!
Not sure how much detail I went into last time with Darcy's seizures, but we thought we had them under control due to medications until they showed their ugly face again last week.  (grrrr)
They upped her meds, which seems to work until this week and then they started again.  These seizures were definitely different from her last.  Seemed like they were a little more intense, and I think as she is getting older she may unfortunately understand it more. (sadly enough)
Anyway, I contacted our amazing Neuro Assistant, Amanda, and she got Darcy in to get an MRI.  Which brings the reason why we are sitting in a hospital waiting room right now.
We really just pray that this MRI will give some well needed answers to why she is having seizures and then we can stay on top of them.
I'm going to go ahead and give me Dr opinion, yeah I don't have the fancy letters after my name but I'll tell you something being in and out of appointments you begin to think you know all. (wink wink)
My opinion:  Last week, St Patty's Day, they decided to dial her shunt down so that it would drain more of the fluid off her shunt and neck.  Darcy has had some fluid buildup on her shunt and the tubing down her neck for some time, we blamed in on the horrible cough she had for 9 weeks!!!
So the seizures started exactly a day after the change in the shunt, therefore my thoughts are that with the less fluid in her little head gives the gray matter more room to communicate and when the gray matter communicates it then sparks up seizures.   Hence my theory!

One awesome thing about coming back to the hospital, we got to see the amazing nurse (Lisa) that took such great care of our baby when she was 2 weeks old and received her shunt!  Brought tears to my eyes, I'm such a softy anymore.
We were also introduced to another strong couple that is going thru the exact same thing we went thru 4 1/2 months ago.  I hope we were able to give them some sort of comfort but I can totally relate to how stressful it is to have a baby going thru this and they didn't have the warning we did and haven't been able to process it for as long as did.  I hope they find the comfort of our little babies journey and can feel comfortable to reach out to us if they need too.  I wish we would have known someone else that went thru this when we started but we have had a great support group with her doctors and of course our friends and family!

I'll keep you all posted how the results turn out and then maybe they will be able to help Little D and this too will just be another story!

P.s.  Darcy has been thru assessments for First Step and we have a meeting next week to get a schedule down for her therapy.  She has already started to show signs of progressing so I am eager to get her therapy started and see how grows with their help.

Little D's Journey: Pt. Two

I started the first blog and new that there would be plenty more to come so I knew that it would be very fitting to title them into parts!
So I will start off where we left you with the last one.
After we visited with the Ped. Neuro for her seizures we brought it to his attention that we didn't feel like her vision was the best or to where it should be.  She could hear, we could see that b/c she would jump at noises or even kind of look around when talking was going on, but she wasn't focusing on anything or anyone and if she locked in on you and you were too move she wouldn't follow you.  Which that completely struck me as odd and I knew at this point of her age that she should be doing at least that.  Once he did a few little tests on her he could see our concerns so he referred us to an Optometrist for tests and screening.
After calling in some favors to my FAVORITE Neuro PA we got in within a week after the referral!
The Optometrist was very friendly and starts to do her tests and understood our concerns, but in order to really look "into" the eye she had to put drops in to dilate them.  So, the drops went in and then we had to wait 45 minutes for the drops to work.
Here is little D asleep while the drops were doing their job... she was so good.  The Dr said it would sting a little and she pushed her brows down a little but not a peep out of her.

After all of that the Dr said that her eyes were in great health and the hydrocephalus had not damaged anything, phew a HUGE sigh of relief.  The only thing she could see is that because of the brain abnormality the brain and the des weren't communicating as quickly as they normally would. But she could see that she was trying hard to focus and that she could see so that wasn't a worry.  Now she is being referred to a program that does visual therapy to help her brain and eyes work together.
We finally got to sit with the administrator for this program called "First Steps" tonight and basically just get an idea of what we can expect.  Darcy will have a Visual Therapist and a Physical Therapist come and assess her and see what kind of help she can benefit from and then after the assessment she can start the therapy sessions.  I feel so relieved that we will have people along the side of us helping us get her to her milestones at such a young age.  I truly feel that if we can catch everything at the beginning or even right as we see fit that she can be the best that her little head will let her.  If she is anything like her sister she will be completely ahead of this and nothing will get in her way!
We absolutely love this little girl so much and she has already showed us how strong she is that it is unbelievable and really easy to say that she keeps us grounded, even at such a young age!!!

It's hard to be Four: the life of Ruby

We have exhausted all our patients and behavior books when it comes to dealing with a four year old, threes were a nightmare but fours seem to have their own madness.

When it comes to behavioral charts Ruby doesn't like to be at the bottom, even at school she is manipulating her way to the top... they are starting to see right thru her too!
We have a had a behavioral chart in our kitchen for quite some time now and it worked for awhile but then she messed more with placing Trey on all the appropriate behavior spots then really worrying if she was below good or above good for the day.
So, I decided to go back to my old method of stickers on the calendar... this time instead of it being a potty calendar it is now a "no-fit" calendar.

If she had a good day then at the end of the day right before bed she was allowed to put a sticker on that day, and if she had a bad day she would get a red X and not be allowed to put a sticker on.  Then at the end of the week we would do something fun or she could get a item of her choose and then at the end of the month we would do one BIG thing.  Well, as you can see her month started out great, there were a couple touch 'n go days but we were able to quickly resolve issues do to the fear of the red X.

Week 3 wasn't the best week, it resulted in her first red X, which she was not at all happy about.
Which brings me to a great story:  Eric takes the girls to school and the day of the red X he was walking with Ruby to her room and she stopped him and asked if they could "talk.". She asked how she can get rid of the red X?  He then explained what happened and why she got it, and then told her to remember how sad she was that she got it and try not to get it again.  Well, that evening she came home and took all her stuff to her room (like normal) but then stayed in her room longer than normal so Eric went in to check on her.  He asked her what she was doing and she said that she "took care of the X." He looked at the calendar and it was wet with a more pink X now.  She had used water and a wash cloth and wiped the red X as much as she could to make it look like it no longer existed.  Needless to say she kept the red X and also go another one that week, but then finished strong the last week.  We feel that it is working but we are also way to lenient and she probably really should have had a few more but if the fits aren't lasting as long then we feel like we are at least making progress, but this little girl is the strongest willed child I have ever me!!!  Lord help us!!!

Because she had a good month, Eric took her to SkyZone and they had a blast... she loved it.  Even though she was really supposed to go to Frozen on Ice but because of the weather that didn't happen.  I thought telling her that we weren't going was going to be a disaster but she actually took it really good and was perfectly fine with the alternative.

For SALE!

Well, it is official... our house is on the market!! (eek!)

We have been extremely busy the last month trying to get all the little things done so it was presentable/saleable!  Seems like once you start something there is no end and you just finally have to stop.  If you keep going then you will have done everything you wanted to do in order to just stay!

It's almost been a week that it has officially been on the market, the pictures of the house were taken this weekend and our first showing was today (Sunday).  We are crossing all our fingers and toes and praying that our house can sell quickly so we can get the home that we have our little hearts set on.

Our realtor/friend told us a) don't look for houses until yours is under contract, b) definitely don't fall in LOVE with a home until yours is under contract and c) don't put a contract on a house until yours is under contract.  Well... we are horrible listeners b/c we have failed at all three!  The only problem is if someone comes around and wants to buy our "dream" home they can b/c we don't have the guts nor the financial ability to pay two mortgages so our contract will then fall. (sad face)

Gotta live by the motto, "if it's meant to be, it will be!"

President's Day = DIY Home Projects

So Darcy was feeling good (no fever) and I had the day off, so both girls went to school so I could start doing some things around the house.
I'M TRYING TO GET IT READY TO SELL!!!!

Sunday night I decided to paint the master bathroom, it definitely needed it...I think I painted it when I moved in which was almost 10 years or maybe 9 years ago (who's counting).
Then I decided that I wanted to paint the cabinets that are in there.  Since I've done another project with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint I thought I would find a color I liked and do our bathroom with it.  Well the color I wanted to paint it wasn't actually on her color palette so after some research on recipes I decided I'd go for it.  I used Graphite and Barcelona Orange (even amounts) and came out with a very pretty Espresso color.  I also used the Dark Wax over it to really deepen the color.
Eric was thoroughly impressed, but I'm pretty sure he was more excited that I just saved him $$$ on not buying a new vanity!
I had also saw on Pinterest that you could paint your countertop... and our countertop before was a weird blush/orange color so I decided painting it really couldn't hurt it!
Needless to say my President's Day was not a lounge around day, but I LOVED what I did and had fun jamming out to SNP Pandora radio station while I was doing it.
I have after pictures, even though I'm not fully done yet... still need to frame the mirror but here is what went down:

Just a few more projects and we are on our way to selling this house!!!!!  Yay!!!

Little D's Journey: Pt. One

It seems like everyday there is something new and challenging in our lives, especially since we have had children... but after we had our little miracle "Darcy" it has been nothing less than new and challenging.
I've mentioned in recent posts about her shunt and Hydrocephalus, well now that she is starting to get older and closer to hitting milestones with every month it seems more things are starting to set her back.
First, let's go back to the ER visit.  I went to the ER with her b/c she was "what I thought" choking and not breathing.  Well when we got to the ER and when she finally did what I had initial brought her in for the nurse had showed me that she was breathing and that she was more than likely just choking or trying to swallow her phlegm since she was so congested.  WELL... that is when it all started!
Darcy has been sick, with a horrible cough and congestion for now 8 weeks and last week this horrible virus decided it wanted to throw in a fever to just top things off.  So, she had a fever for three days, and after going to the Doctor there was still nothing they could do. "Let it run it's course.". I'm so tired of hearing that, this poor baby hasn't felt well in two months how am I as a Mom supposed to sit back and continue to watch and listen to my unhealthy baby and in hopes let it run it's course.  So hard to do!!
Ok, so now comes the "episodes" that she had when I went to the ER with her.  They were back and it finally dawned on me that they could be seizures!  I only thought this b/c Ruby had febrile seizures when she was 6mo to a year old, and that is when her fever would spike so high and so quickly that her little head couldn't control them and would put her into a seizure.  So I figured out that it was indeed a seizure that Darcy was having and that it had to be caused by fevers b/c that seemed to be when she started having them... well I'm guessing having the seizures with the fever was coincidental b/c her fever went away but the seizures did NOT!  I made the Doctor aware of what I thought was going on so he ordered an EEG so we could be certain exactly what was causing them... and apparently when the word SHUNT is involved everyone is on high alert which has worked out for our benefit b/c it seems to push up ahead of the line (not sure it is all that good of a thing but we will take anything we can get.)
Darcy had her EEG this morning, and of course she didn't have a seizure at all during but once they took the monitors off she had one... it's a good thing we videoed it this weekend so we could show the Doctors!  We are also very lucky that we have an awesome Neuro PA and she helped get her video to the Ped Neuro and she also got us into to see him the same day! Plus she has been very helpful, understanding, thoughtful and positive, and did I mention I texted her on her vacation and she helped me out and didn't even mention she was on vacation!  Shout out to Amanda Vance...LOVE HER!
We met with the Ped Neuro this afternoon and though all his medical terms we learned that indeed she is having seizures and that it is due to her brain abnormalities.  Yes, when she was born (which I'm going to say this was due to the Hydrocephalus but through all the lingo they throw out at you I could be mistaken) her brain didn't fully develop and there was more grey matter than normal (I know there is a technical term for it but just can't seem to find it).  The larger amount of grey matter can cause erratic brain waves therefore cause seizures, she could outgrow these but for the time being we are going to manage them with medicine and in turn hope that without the seizures she can start to develop normally.  Which unfortunately normal for Little D isn't the typical normal, but it will be her normal and we (Mommy and Daddy) will make sure that she is under the best care and will help her to be the best that she can  and will be!  I write this with tears in my eyes, just knowing that I cannot do anything to turn the clock back for her and take it all away.  As a Mom you just want nothing but best for your baby, and it's hard not being able to see what her future holds... this planner of a Mom is in for a treat and I'm going to have to let the unknown in for this ride.
This all being said, she is the best baby!!!  She only wants two things, to be fed and to sleep and that is the only time she is loud.  The rest of the time she is pretty calm, which is good b/c we have our hands full with her older sister!
Trust me when I say this roller-coaster has really just begun so all the prayers and kind thoughts for our Little D will be greatly appreciated!!

Darcy's Baptism

Our little D bug got baptized this weekend, February 7, 2015.  It was a gorgeous weekend for February, highs were in the 70's!!  Darcy had lots of friends and family here for her special day; Nana/Papa, Gammy/Popo, Aunt Sarah/Ryan, Uncle Brad/Aunt Shannon, Brendon/Mel/Ella/Eyan/Cecilia, and Mrs. Herbster.  After the baptism we had everyone over for a little grilling and catching up, it really was a GREAT day!
I am grateful for my Mom and MIL taking pictures b/c I've found running with two kids and trying to maintain some sort of sanity that taking pictures just isn't something I immediately think of.

Aunt Sarah Schroeder (God Mother) Brendon Herbster (God Father)

Eric and I are so blessed to have two beautiful and healthy little girls, that we really have no idea how we got so lucky!  May God watch over them and keep them protected and loved forever and ever!

Single Mom Week

I have got to start out by giving so many praises to all the single parents out there, it is not an easy task and this Momma had one hell of a week!
You know it started out like any other week, shrills from a 4yo!  Typical Monday around our house, a 4yo that is not happy about anything.  Then after A LOT of talking and bribing we finally made it thru the morning and the night, on to Tuesday which actually was a good day by all.  Darcy was even sleeping well and only getting up once at this point...I thought I had hit the jackpot!
Now, Wednesday is where it all starts going downhill.  Darcy decided to get sick in her car seat on the way home from daycare, so I had to get her bathed and her car seat lining washed, along with dinner for Ruby.  After the bath Darcy decided she wanted to choke on her mucus a few times (and by choking I mean stop breathing) which led to me being super paranoid and then inevitably led to me worrying there was something wrong with the shunt and not just her having a horrible cough/cold.  So, what do I do...I call my amazing friends (the Saunders) and have them rush over to help watch Ruby while I ran Darcy to the ER!  Yes, you read it right, I took Darcy to the ER.  (I also have to thank the Herbsters for answering my phone calls all week and dealing with me while Eric was gone.)
Now let me pause in the middle of my story to tell you a little about what the ER entailed!  The last time I was in the ER I had Eric with me and we were toting around a 6 month old baby (Febrile Seizures at 3 am with chicken pox), in the middle of the summer.  So needless to say I don't remember much about the ER.  This time it was just me so I was totally checking out our surroundings and trying to make sure we weren't walking into something dangerous.  First, the smell drew me back to my college years, walking into a Fraternity house...or better yet just a college apartment building.  The smell of alcohol and just pure grossness.  The waiting area was full, I stood and put Darcy on the open chair farthest from the crowd.  We got called back and I gave a huge praise to the nurse, said I don't know how they do it and she reminded me that because the weather was bad they get all sorts of people.
Ok, now back to the real story.  They looked over Darcy, gave her an x-ray, ran a few tests, and basically said that the breathing complications and coughing was all due to congestion and a cold.  Obviously I was a paranoid Mom to them... oh well.  We make it back home around 11 pm, and we all get to bed shortly around Midnight.  Thursday morning was definitely going to be a late start.  Thursday starts out good, except for the late start but we make it thru the entire day with no calls from daycare and I didn't pass out at work from exhaustion, but then the real fun begins Thursday night.  Darcy decides she wants to get the same crud Ruby had last week and starts to vomit about every hour from Midnight to about 7 am.  This was no fun for anyone, I think Ruby managed to sleep thru most of it but poor Darcy didn't get much rest at all.  Luckily we had already scheduled Doctor appointments for Friday morning for both girls; Darcy's head Doctor (as Ruby calls them) and then both girls with the Pediatrician.
Darcy's Neurologist appointment went great, they said she looked good and they were happy with the level that the shunt was on so they pushed her out for 2 months instead of next month, sounds positive to me!  The Pediatrician looked over Darcy and read back all the test results from the ER and they were negative so he basically just said that she had the little flu sister had and she has a horrible cold.  Ruby's appointment was for an age physical and vaccines.  Ruby is doing great, other than being extremely smart he said she is skinny and short! :-)
Then the most anticipated event all week, the arrival of Daddy!!! We all made the trip to the airport, even if it was 9:45 pm, we were all so excited and wanted to pick him up and see him for ourselves!
Let's just say, if another Single Mom week has to happen again I will be fully prepared for anything!

The BIG 4!

Yesterday (1/5/2015), our little girl turned FOUR (I cannot believe it)!!  Unfortunately, she was sick on her birthday which was so sad, but she is feeling better today and got to take her cupcakes to her class and celebrate.

 Sick on her birthday :-(

She is so super excited about turning four because that means she can use the big slide at daycare.  Yes that is a big deal to the kids there, even though she can't use it until Spring (her words) she still talks about it.  Our goal is to get her to act like a four year old and try to have as many melt downs in 2015.

On Saturday, (1/3/2015) Ruby had her birthday party at a local gymnastics center and the kids loved it.  Of course it was Ariel, Little Mermaid, themed.

Completely exhausted from her party!

Back To Reality

Today was a sad day for this Mommy, it was my last day of maternity leave which means I won't be able to spend my days cuddling my sweet baby.  I thought this day would be easy with #2, but it has been harder than I imagined.  Just knowing this is my last maternity leave (ever!), this is my last baby, and also I think knowing how fast time passes once you throw work in the mix has lead too a snowball of emotions.
It is comforting to know that Darcy will be in good hands, since we absolutely love the daycare, but it was different when Ruby was her age.  Ruby was taken care of by a friend, whom I probably bugged multiple times a day for updates and pictures so that made it so easy, and I know the girls at daycare said that I could text/call anytime and they would send me pictures and updates but I kind of feel bad...KIND OF! :-)
I'm excited to get back to work and have normal adult conversations, I really miss my work family.  Guess that is a good thing!
I couldn't help but to take some more pictures of my cuddle buddy today, as I am going to have to squeeze her so much after work and on the weekends just to make up for all the time we have had these last 9 weeks!!

She had me cracking up today, it's just so hard not to be in a good mood around her!  I think we have figured each other out these past couple weeks and it really has been enjoyable...I hope that doesn't sound bad, but with Ruby it was a different scenario; first child, amateur parent... you get it.

We are definitely starting our 2015 out on the right foot... nothing but positive stuff for our family this year!!!!

Cheers to a NEW YEAR!!!
