This is a little journal I had kept while going thru my second and LAST pregnancy, read if you would like it can give you a little more of a timeline on our little MIRACLE:
Pregnancy #2
3/20 - went to Dr for blood work and testing. Sat down with financial advisor and she told us how expensive you are going to be!!
3/31 - visited with the Dr for the first time (Dr Stamps). Everything went well and he was super nice. He even let Mommy get a picture of our peanut for the first time!! Made my day to know only ONE little nut was in there, but that there indeed was a peanut inside and growing accordingly.
5/1/2014 - everything was great!!! We heard the very strong heartbeat and nothing seems to be of concern.
Onward to another four weeks.
5/28/2014 - Everything sounds good!! Next appointment is the gender! Yay!

We found out that you are a little girl! Which was the only good news we got. Unfortunately the left side of your brain is slightly larger than the right and the back of your neck is smaller than normal. We have no idea what this means but I'm hoping after our very long appointment on Tuesday we will get some news. So if you can cooperate and please show them that you are as normal as they come I would appreciate it. I swear I'll give you candy whenever you ask. 😉

6/24/2014 - Well you are already our special baby! You have something called Hydrocephalus. Which means the fluid on your brain is more than normal. So, Mom had to get a test that pulled fluid from that cozy sack you live in to make sure it isn't something specific that is causing this and it's just an abnormality in your tiny brain. If that's the case, then you will have a little surgery to place a shunt in your head to help you drain your fluid into your spine and after this you'll be more perfect than you are today!

Today was our appointment with the perinatal specialist, Dr Dix. We received our test results back from the amniocentesis. Great news!!! They came back normal!! Now we know that basically you are just a special little girl that just needs a little extra attention, and really why wouldn't you coming into this family with a big sister that insist that she have all the attention. ☺️
The Dr also told us that the fluid on your little brain hasn't increased, which is awesome. Now we don't have to go back for 4 weeks.
We will get our reference to Dr Mace, the neurologist, for your surgery. I'm praying that he can do a surgery that is up and coming and less invasive than a shunt, but either way you will be a perfectly healthy normal little girl. Just keep growing away and I'll go ahead and let you continue to do your acrobats as long as that means you are my normal ray of sunshine at the end!!!

Mommy had her appointment with Dr Stamps today. Everything looked good and your heartbeat was normal. We continue on with normality. If only you could move away from Mommy's bladder for a couple days!!! It's hard for me to even consider you to be anything but normal with your kicking and moving strength the way it is. I swear you are trying out for the circus or for river dancing!!! With that said, I do appreciate that your activity schedule is perfect. You are active all day with some good rests and then you are active right before Mommy goes to bed and then you sleep all night until about 5:30am and then you wake up right along with your big sister!
You're going to be just fine.

Today we got to see some really amazing close-ups of you and got some measurements that just melt our hearts!!! You are growing like a weed, and gaining weight like a little butterball. You are up to 2.5 pounds, stomach is 69th percentile, head is 90th percentile (don't worry that won't matter when you make your arrival), and your weight is 75th percentile. You are a mover and a shaker, constantly on the go. Kind of scares me for what you will bring!! I hope you're outgoing like your sister, but maybe just a little quieter. 😉
The amazing picture we got makes I think you won't look a whole lot like your sister, you'll have your own beauty. You even look a little chubby in your first photo! Today's appointment was a good one, other than you're growing there was no significant change in the fluid in your tiny brain so no worries!! Mommy is doing her sugar test next week, fingers crossed all goes well; especially since you are a healthy size!

8/15/2014 - 27 wks
Today is Mommy's glucose test. It's where I get to drink some sugar-strong orange kool aid and then wait an hour for them to take my blood and make sure we don't have gestational diabetes. Fingers crossed we don't, that way it is one less thing we have to worry about!! You're already a special little girl, I don't think we need to make you extra special!!!! ☺️
Dr visit went well, everything seems to be looking great and growing in line. You are a very active baby, which makes Mommy very happy and yet makes me very uncomfortable. I'm pretty sure if you were any lower you'd be giving my high fives (or should I say low fives 😉)! We never heard back from the Dr so that means we don't have gestational diabetes!!! We had the specials appointment on the 4th and then our normal doctor visit on the 5th. Everything seems to be the same, along side that you are growing!!! They had said there was a little more fluid on the one side of your your tiny head but nothing to be concerned with. They also want me to start stress testing to make sure that you continue to stay calm and growing!! We only have a little more than two weeks until we talk to the neurologist and we can have a sense of what exactly our plan will be one you arrive!! The Doctor thinks that the last week of October will be your homecoming date. We will see. Hopefully we will see you in 7 weeks not a week or sooner or a week later! 😉

Today we had another stress test, but I shouldn't say we bc they only monitor you and make sure you are doing well. You've now passed two weeks in a row with flying colors. Today Mommy got tons of view time and pictures of your adorable little self! I got a glimpse of all your hair, got to see your eyes opening and closing, watched you yawn and stick your tongue out repeatedly! You are a character already...just like your sister. Oh boy, does your Dad and I have our hands full!!! So far so good, next week is our big appointment withy the Neurologist so I'm sure I'll have more news on you! 6 more weeks!!!

We got to meet your Neurologist, Dr Mace, and he had really nothing but good things for Mommy and Daddy to hear. He was very positive about your little head, maybe so much that it's going Mom and Dad high hopes (not sure if that's a good thing or bad). At least we know there are options and hopefully we will have the best of what God gives us!
You've also been really ornery to Mommy lately; pushing out, moving around and giving Mommy Braxton hicks contractions. Not fun stuff at all. We are hopefully looking at meeting you in 5 weeks!!! Just stay in until that time! 😁

Other than gaining an enormous amount of weight with you, you seem to be doing great. We met with Dr Dix and Dr Stamps all today. Dr Dix brought Mommy and Daddy back to reality after Dr Mace built us up! You still are a special baby and will more than likely have to have a procedure, we just have to wait until you make your appearance to know what exactly. We are trying to get a date scheduled for that arrival with Dr Stamps but haven't heard yet. We have also been dealing with insurance for awhile too. Daddy's insurance switched therefore we ha to submit paperwork for them to let us continue with the Dr's we are seeing and they finally approved it! Which is great news, but after we will then have to switch to Mercy, which isn't awful just need to figure it all out before you enter our little-crazy world!! Which hopefully isn't too much longer as you are really starting to be painful. Fingers crossed only 3 weeks left, but no sooner because you need to bake as long as you can. 😘

Nothing too exciting today at our Dr's appointment. You passed your Non-stress test, which is always a good thing. You did however give a good contraction while we were hooked up to the monitor so that was fun!
I'm still waiting to hear your birth-day, hopefully this week they will call us! If not we will see them again next week. So here's to another week, please be nice to me and you start to get bigger and less likely to have room to play.

We are so excited, I'm sure I'm overly joyed that way we can hang out in person and not in my belly. Sorry dear baby I love you but I can't wait to not waddle, not pee every hour, sleep on my stomach, have a beer, and oh yeah hold you in my arms!!! We are almost there.

We have been to Dr Dix and to Dr Stamps today and are all ready for your arrival next week! Got great news that Mommy is not dilated so next week will still be!! Thank the Lord. They did measurements on you today and said you are measuring 8lbs1ounce which I really think is bigger than what you will be!! My guess is 7.3 and Daddy's is 7.12. We will see who really knows you. 😉

You are here!!!! You took your first breathe at 8:19am, weighing in at 7 pounds 9 ounces and 18.5 inches. You are nothing but perfect! We are very lucky that your fluid isn't bad enough for you to go into the NICU, you get to stay with Mommy and Daddy! You are doing so good and we could not be more blessed.

10/31/2014 - Your first Halloween and we get to go home....all together as a family of 4!!! Yay. You're weight leaving the hospital is 7 pounds 4 ounces.
11/12/2014 - today is the day you get your shunt. We have to be at the hospital at 7:30 for your pre-op. Dr Sami will be doing your surgery and Mommy and Daddy really like him. This was a very emotional day for Mommy and Daddy, though Mommy couldn't hide her emotions as well as Daddy. It was so hard to know my baby was having surgery at only two weeks old but we have our faith and knew you were in God's hands and nothing bad would happen. We had to stay the night in the hospital to make sure you were doing well after the anesthesia and of course you did because you are the strongest little baby I know.
11/25/2014 - we had your follow up visit with Dr Sami and his Nurse (Amanda). They said everything was looking great, you had a little fluid on the shunt so they wanted to dial it down a little to drain more fluid.
12/01/2014 - Your weight is 8 pounds 14 ounces. We went back in to see Nurse Amanda because your Mommy didn't think that your head looked normal. Your soft spot was completely sunken and your little skill was terribly visible. Dr Sami and Amanda agreed so they dialed the shunt back up to the original setting and if the fluid comes back on the shunt then they we do something else. But basically it will stop gathering on the shunt when your little skull develops and closes over the tube that is running from it to the shunt.
12/03/2014 - Your little head already looks so much better and it doesn't scare Mommy anymore. I'm still trying to get use to your shunt, what I really need to do is have you lay more on that side of your head because your left side is starting to flatten out more!

Appointment with the Neurologist went well. They moved the shunt up to 2 in hopes that the extra fluid will even out the right to the left side of your little head. They were happy that the fluid is off the shunt and that everything looked as if it were healing great. 😍

12/18/2014 - today you had your hearing test, since the test in the hospital when you were born was not a successful one. But great news, both your little ears passed!!! Now this was music to Daddy and Mommy's ears...pun intended!!!
Also, your little head is looking so much better. Both sides are starting to even out, so it looks like moving the shunt up has helped.

You had your two month appointment and you are doing great!! Growing like a weed and even though you have a horrible cough you are healthy as can be. Shots were as expected, made you cry and cranky for the day but all in all just a great visit for you!
